Eat Drink Perth 2013 Coffee Stops Guide

Working in the Perth city, there’s no shortage of coffee and although we all have our favourites, Eat Drink Perth’s coffee stop guide has inspired myself and my foodie friends to have 24 days of coffee.

Each day (for 24 days) on foodie cravings you will find a new Perth coffee review in no particular order written by Frosty, Sweetly Spiced, Mahara, Frank, tastebuddy or myself Sign up for foodie cravings email updates to receive these daily reviews by email.

Everyone has different coffee tastes so here’s the low down on what we each drink & love…

Lowdown Espresso Bar is my all-time favourite but Velvet is a close second. I love my lattes smooth and medium strength. My latte has done it’s job when it has just enough caffeine to wake me up and the friendly service will keep me coming back.

Frosty’s favourite coffee is a long black from Crib Lane. “A good coffee looks good, smells good, tastes good and comes from people who are excited to make it.”

Sweetly Spiced’s favourite coffee is a skinny cap from Cioccolato in Applecross. “Good coffee should have no hint of burn in the beans or the milk. Much to the horror of many baristas I like my brew piping hot, so temperature is a deciding factor for me. Service should be with a smile and staff clearly showing a passion for extraction.”

Mahara’s favourite coffee is a skinny flat white, “for me a good coffee is not too strong in flavour with no bitter aftertaste and at a reasonable price!”

Frank’s favourite coffee is also a skinny flat white, “to me, the perfect skinny flat white is a coffee that isn’t dominated by milk but perfectly blended to create a rich velvety texture. I am a dedicated skinny flat white drinker. I am not a coffee addict, I don’t need one to start the day but when I have one, I want it to be great.”

tastebuddy‘s favourite coffee is the Long Macchiato topped up from Lowdown. “For me, a great coffee will have an enticing visual and is able to activate your senses. I like coffee that has a nice brown/golden colour with a strong aroma and without a strong bitter taste. I enjoy going to Lowdown because the staff greet you by your name and remember your regular order.”

24 days of coffee reviews will be added to this post as they are written…
