24 days of coffee Tartine Café coffee review by guest blogger Mahara
Tartine Cafe is situated on the corner of Wellington and William Street in Perth, a not particularly attractive area, as it overlooks a busy intersection rather than any beautiful scenery to watch as you drink your coffee. However the small cafe itself was well set out with beautiful wooden floors and shelves packed with French foods and jars of preserved fruits, which really made you feel like you were walking into a French bakery. I arrived at around 3pm looking for a late lunch and coffee. There were many tasty options in the glass cabinets with mostly baguettes and sweet items displayed and of course the delicious French macarons that can be found everywhere you look these days!
On placing my order I noticed that Tartine had a sign to inform customers that they make each coffee with a double shot, rather than the single shot you would typically get in your regular coffee. The cost was $3.80 for a dine in coffee, so if you usually pay a bit extra for a double shot of coffee coming to Tartine would be well worth your money. As someone who prefers a medium strength coffee with minimal bitterness I wasn’t sure if the coffee would be to my liking.
When my skinny flat white arrived it was quite frothy and dark in colour. The flavour was very intense and bitter but there was no aftertaste of burnt beans and the coffee was professionally made.
Unfortunately for me, the coffee was way too bitter for my personal taste; a milkier coffee such as a latte might have been a better option. I would recommend Tartine Cafe to those people who love their coffee strong and intense as the two shots definitely give you bang for your buck.
