burger boy and I are bringing Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar to Mount Lawley

I have some very exciting news to share with you – burger boy and I are bringing Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar to Mount Lawley!

We thought it was time to take the plunge and start our very own business especially now that we are over our honeymoon phase of marriage :)

burger boy being the burger and pizza lover he is (we have pizza most Friday nights and burgers every fortnight or so) was the first to know when Crust opened in Subiaco so off we went to see what it had to offer. And it didn’t disappoint – the crust was thin, there were just the right amount of toppings and best of all we could eat two pizzas between us and not feel that sickly oily feeling I get from eating traditional pizzas. The other thing which won us over was that the range of gourmet pizzas was different to anything we’ve had before. I’ve tried the Peking Duck, Wagyu Beef and Five Spice Pork Belly which all have amazing flavours and I recently discovered the Sausage Duo which is a tastier meat lover and now my favourite pizza. My family and burger boy on the other hand love the Szechuan Chilli Prawn which is nice but a bit too chilli for me – which my family finds completely odd as Asians love and can handle their chilli :) even burger boy is more Asian than me!

So when deciding what we wanted to do, it was obvious that it would be something to do with food as we always seem to be eating and when we’re not eating we’re talking about food or writing about it here! And pizza or burgers were the key considerations…as we eat so much of it and as the plan was always for burger boy to manage our business full-time while I continued in my full-time role, it had to be something burger boy was madly passionate about.

After much research (mainly via eating), we decided Crust was the perfect fit and we couldn’t think of any better location than 5 minutes from home in the bustling heart of Mount Lawley :)

I can’t wait to share more as the empty shop on the corner of Walcott/Beaufort Street transforms into our new Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar – fingers crossed that it’ll be ready in time for the Beaufort Street Festival on the 12 November!

In the meantime, we’re looking for foodies to make and deliver delicious pizzas so if you know of anyone let me know! And if you’re on facebook, please like our new Crust Mount Lawley fan page :) I’ll be posting some specials for Crust fans leading up to our launch.

Congratulations on starting your own business! I will have to tell my husband – he loves pizza and will drive anywhere for it. Which part of the Beaufort/Walcott intersection will you be on?

    • foodie cravings on September 19, 2011 at 8:18 pm

Thanks Lauren! burger boy & I are the same. We’ll drive anywhere for a quality feed :) and especially in search for the best burgers in Perth!

Our Crust will be next to Swish & Chips & Dome. It used to be the home and heart boutique homewares store.

  12. Amber on September 19, 2011 at 1:01 pm

Oh, wow!!! How exciting – we have one down the rd from us (canning vale) but haven’t tried it yet. The menu has been stuck to the fridge since we got it in the post a couple of months ago as the pizza sounds so tasty! (there are no other fast food type menus on our fridge, must say something!)

    best of luck :)

    • foodie cravings on September 19, 2011 at 8:26 pm

Cool! I heard the Canning Vale store has been flat out since they’ve opened :) do try, Leith the owner is really nice.

Very awesome that Crust is the only menu on your fridge!

      • Amber on September 21, 2011 at 9:24 am

We will definitely be trying it – the only reason we haven’t already is that we’ve been busy preparing for a body building competition and pizza doesn’t really fit into the diet :P

I’m sure we can make the trip to mt lawley to support your shop….educational
        comparison reason of course :P

        • foodie cravings on September 22, 2011 at 7:20 am

Body building comp? Wow that’s impressive. Hehe yes educational, of course! :) We would love to see you when we open.
