foodie cravings

I’m a foodie who enjoys trying new food anywhere / any place (restaurants, cafes, bars, market stalls, fast food joints…anywhere just name it!) both in Perth, Western Australia and on my travels. I’m not your ordinary foodie, I’m often described as ‘fussy’ but I really really do love my food - I guess just not everything that’s put on my plate. Though, my other half, ‘burger boy’, eats most foods so I’ll be blogging about what he eats too…and as the name implies, burgers will be a regular foodie blog for all you burger lovers outthere. I love showcasing my yummy food finds with pics so I thought why not share my passion for food with other foodies with my blog, foodie cravings. Follow my food journey as I discover new keepers and rave about my all-time favourites.

Making barbecue sauce at home was easier than I thought…

Classic-Barbecue-Sauce-Chicken-Breast

When burger boy is working, I usually have a simple dinner. It’s usually a toastie or pumpkin & corn thermomix risotto that I’ve made for junior burger. Mainly because I’m a messy cook and don’t like to spend the night cleaning up after myself when I could be spending my time blogging or working on our business.…

Shikisai-Japanese-Sushi

My writer Karina headed along to an intimate sushi masterclass run by Shikisai Japanese Cooking School last month and absolutely loved it. She learnt how to make sushi and my favourite teriyaki chicken. I wished I could have gone! Here’s her post and all the details if you’re keen to become a Sushi Master too.…

Making junior burger food with my NEW Hackit

Hackit

This week I’ve been testing out Hackit, a new kitchen gadget which has just arrived in Australia from Norway. Rather than using a fork to quickly mash food for junior burger this week, I’ve been hacking it. It’s been quicker and more effective as I’m usually impatient with my mashing. Hackit is in Australia thanks to…

Dinner with Miguel Maestre and Alistair McLeod

Miguel&Alistair

My writer Karina met Miguel Maestre at Good Food & Wine’s event last month. She was impressed at how genuinely nice Miguel was and reckons celebrity chefs have to work so hard to get to where they are so most are lovely & humble – what do you think?  —- When it comes to celebrity chefs there are…

NEW Winter Menu at The Merrywell

The-Merrywell-New-Menu-2015-2

foodie cravings writer Karina headed along to The Merrywell to try out their new menu last month, this is what she thought. —- I think new menus are one of the most exciting things a restaurant can do. It allows the chefs to try new things and diners to have a brand new experience in a familiar…

5 baby friendly Perth coffee spots

IMG_6267.JPG

So this mum gig it seems has rekindled me with my coffee cravings. Back when I was working in the corporate sector coffee was a necessity (read about when I decided to work for myself rather than someone else here). These days I really just enjoy coffee and will take any opportunity to have one, often…

Neil Perry’s NEW Burger Bar at Rockpool

Rockpool-Perth-Minderoo-Beef-Burger

I had the pleasure of meeting and lunching with Neil Perry at a media launch of his new burger bar menu at Rockpool Bar & Grill Perth on Thursday. It was refreshing to meet such a down to earth celebrity chef who made a genuine effort to speak to us regular folks! I always think of…

Meal planning sorted for the week thanks to You Plate it!

You-Plate-It-Pork-Dan-Dan-Ingredients

I’ve been buying locally and cooking A LOT more since junior burger. I went from eating out 4 of 7 days pre junior burger days to now making sure there’s lunch & dinner prepared almost every day of the week! So I’m not spending hours in the kitchen every day, meal planning and food prep…

Brave the rain & have a Taste of Perth

Asado-BBQ

Most of you will know I have a pretty good appetite and I like to eat a bit of everything. So my food plan for Taste of Perth 2015 was to make my dollars stretch by finding dishes which were less than 10 crowns (1 crown = 1 dollar). If you love your food, put…
