Big Bethanie Bake Off - entries close 26 September

Bethanie – WA’s largest not-for-profit aged care and retirement living provider – has launched Western Australia’s biggest bake off competition!

In an effort to close the intergenerational gap between our seniors and youngsters, Bethanie is putting on a baking competition whereby school students and Bethanie grandparents submit their secret family recipe to enter a statewide competition, judged by none other than one of Australia’s top chefs, Maggie Beer.

School-aged children will be asked to research their grandparents’ background and discover their favourite recipe. The children will then need to reproduce the dish -with the aid of a grandparent - and submit their application online for a chance to win some amazing prizes.

Bethanie CEO Chris How tells, “I am delighted to bring this concept to our valued WA seniors and students. We are very passionate about good food and creating happy, healthy memories here at Bethanie, so this is a great opportunity reignite the importance of learning about family histories and creating new memories in our children across WA.”

Each submission will be judged on the creativity, nutritional value, and complexity of the recipe, along with the story behind their secret family recipe.

Four Bethanie grandparents will compete against four students at the Have a Go Day, which will be held in Burswood, on 12th November 2014 for a Grand Finale live bake off! For further enquiries or to enter, log on to http://www.bigbethaniebakeoff.com.
