The streets of Leederville will light up and come alive on Sunday 1 December for the 2013 Light Up Leederville Carnival. This free event will take over the Leederville town centre with free entertainment and attractions for all ages from 12pm – 8pm with 30,000 people expected.

Food, music, fashion, art and children’s entertainment will line the streets, alleyways and hidden nooks of Leederville throughout the day, culminating in the ‘lighting up’ of new Christmas lights and decorations as night falls. This year, celebrity chef Anna Gare will take part in cooking demonstrations with Leederville’s best chefs across the day.

The carnival will showcase all the food Leederville has to offer – Mexican, Spanish, Italian, Malaysian, Mongolian, Irish, Macedonian, American, seafood. From international flavours to gourmet hotdogs, burgers and fish and chips! Leederville foodies will come out of their stores and trade on the streets all day with street stalls.

The streets will be closed off to traffic along Oxford St (between Vincent and Leederville Parade) and the main corner area of Newcastle St (up to Duende, including Carr Place). At this corner the main stage will be situated - an open top double-decker bus!
