Alfred’s Pizzeria - Perth’s newest small bar

It’s really exciting seeing Perth’s latest developments come to fruition. A few years ago, it was all the buzz around the emerging bar scene across the Perth CBD to Northbridge, from laneway bars such as Cheeky Sparrow and The Laneway Lounge to the upmarket Brookfield Place which hosts the likes of Print Hall, The Trustee just to name a few.
Now it’s all about the new kids on the block at Cathedral Square, a walking distance from Elizabeth Quay and hosting Perth’s new heavyweights Petition and Long Chim that are catering to the upmarket scene similarly to Brookfield Place. We haven’t tried Petition yet, but have been blown away by the food and drinks at Long Chim. If you haven’t been before, Long Chim is Perth’s newest Thai restaurant started by David Thompson, an Aussie chef who’s restaurant Nahm in London was the first Thai restaurant to receive a Michelin star back in 2001.
Just opposite the Cathedral Square, we have another new comer adding to the precinct… Alfred’s Pizzeria. Owned by the same guys as Frisk in Northbridge, their vision was to bring the Small Bar scene into this once untapped part of the city.
If you’re looking for Alfred’s Pizzeria on Barrack Street, it can be easily missed… so just look out for the door with a London telephone box. The concept behind Alfred’s Pizzeria, is a mafia themed small bar serving affordable cocktails, pizza and playing 90’s rock and roll. alfred’s pizzeria perth front

I was really digging the decor of the place, the dark wood and atmosphere was reminiscent of the bars in Mafia movies based around the Bootlegging era like The Untouchables.

I tried Alfred’s version of the Bloody Mary which also has Diemons Mild Chilli sauce added to the mix. It definitely packed a punch… this is the second spicy alcoholic drink I’ve tried since accidentally buying myself and all my mates chilli vodka years ago at Onyx Bar (Now the Brown Fox) when it was my round.
The cool thing about Alfred’s Pizzeria is that its open until 2am, so it’s a great place to go for those last drinks on a Friday night after work in the city. Pizzas are served until 12am and for the spicy lovers out there, they also have Diemons range of chilli sauces on hand at all times for the extra kick.
