MasterChef kicked off ‘Wild West Week’ on Sunday with leading WA seafood company MG Kailis.
One of the most exciting and difficult challenges in MasterChef history, the ‘Trawler Challenge’ was shot on location at MG Kailis’ shipyard at the iconic Fishing Boat Harbour, Fremantle, and on board the organisations fishing boats.
Contestants were lead into the wilds of WA’s Indian Ocean to secure their catch to serve up a banquet to 30 salty sea dogs at midnight.
MG Kailis Director Alex Kailis said “The teams were cooking with beautiful king prawns, fresh whiting, squid and famous Rottnest Scallops, all immediately after they were caught, so it was a good opportunity to show our great WA seafood to the rest of the country.”
It wasn’t all smooth sailing for some, with a number of contestants succumbing to seasickness in the challenging conditions.
