Perth Food Truck Rumble is back again! Who else is ready to dig into all kinds of delicious food? I cannot express my love for food trucks! It’s perfect for those who love the combination of eating and socializing. So I attended the Launch Party at Badlands Bar for a preview of what this years Food Truck Rumble has to offer. Here’s some of the dishes you’ll get to taste on Sunday.
I came back from uni starving so I headed straight to Get Chips or Die Frying for some La Rambla. This was oregano tossed chips, albondigas (Spanish style meatballs) with chorizo and parmesan shavings, served with a slice of fresh bread. When it came out it was mouth-watering from just looking at those chips! And you could say I wasn’t starving anymore – the portion was generous. I really liked the simple slice of bread in contrast to all the other flavourful elements.
Seeing the bright La Carreta food truck was exciting, up until I saw Ox Tongue! I am incredibly safe with what I eat. I have never gone near tongues, kidneys, hearts and all that kind of stuff. Even my mum and partner couldn’t make me. Although with this opportunity, I forced myself to step out of my comfort zone and just go for it. So I ordered the Taquitos de Lengua (Ox Tongue Tacos) which was Colombian spiced braised ox tongue with carrot puree, baby peas, onion, coriander & fresh jalapeño sauce (GF). It smelt good, looked good, did it taste good? As I’m eating through a taco, I can’t stop thinking about the fact I’m eating tongue. But I have to say it wasn’t anywhere near as bad as I thought. It was very soft, even though I was still freaking out.
Even though I was incredibly full, there’s always room for dessert! Earlier on in the night, I walked past Louis Boeglin Patisserie’s beautifully crafted desserts and knew I was going back to get one of his éclairs. This is the Food Truck Rumble Éclair, which included pomegranate juice which you shot down before eating the eclair. It was delightful to eat. This eclair is made just for the Food Truck Rumble so if you’d like to try one, make sure you do at this years rumble!
I also had a chance to have a bite of my friend’s dessert. This beauty is one of Louis Boeglin’s best sellers! Chocolate peanut butter goodness.
The Food Truck Rumble 2017 is held on Sunday March 26 at the Perth Cultural Centre. Be sure to check it out if you want to experience some good food, drinks and cool vibes!
