Little Sister Delicatessen – the expanded new concept store by global bulk gourmet food provider Kakulas Sister opened in Fremantle late last year, and meat and cheese lovers have been rejoicing.
The gourmet delicatessen is located two doors up from Kakulas Sister flagship store in Market Street in the former Corner Store shop, and is stocked full of gourmet meat and cheeses sourced locally, nationally and internationally.
Cheeses range from basic cheddar and ricotta to artisan brands such as Bruny Island Cheese from Tasmania, and Neil’s Yard Dairy in London. Little Sister Delicatessen is one of the five stockists in Australia to offer Neil’s Yard Dairy cheeses cut to order, and the only WA stockist of Bruny Island Cheese.
There is also a large range of cheeses made from goat and sheep’s milk, sourced locally by Little Sister Delicatessen General Manager and Cheese monger Andrea Mason.
The range of meats is just as impressive with classic French dried sausage ‘Saussicon’ in large supply, as well as over 50 varieties of dried meats from Australia, France, Spain and Italy.
Fresh baguettes and bagels are made daily containing the Little Sister Delicatessen produce, although they don’t last long.
Also part of the renovation and expansion was the addition of an espresso bar at the rear of the two sites - called Leake Street Cafeteria.
Owner of Little Sister Delicatessen and Kakulas Sister, Eleni Kakulas said that ‘ Little Sister was born out of the need to expand our original store to keep up with customer demand for premium meat and cheese products. When the site came available seven months ago we set about renovating the space to offer a unique delicatessen experience’.
Kakulas Sister has been located on their historic Fremantle site for 21 years, and expanded to a second store in Nollamara eleven years ago. Kakulas Sister is a branch of gourmet food stalwart located in Northbridge, Kakulas Brothers that has been in operation since 1929.
Little Sister Delicatessen is located at 35 Market Street Fremantle and is open seven days a week (M – F 9:00am – 5:30pm, Sat 9:00am – 5:30pm and Sun 11:30 – 5:00pm).
