Solo Pasta has become a favourite in Mount Lawley for all the right reasons and their new private dining space - ‘The Room’ is sure to keep the crowds coming.
Launched in early 2017, owner David proudly states that the weekends are a huge hit, with patrons booking the place out. foodie cravings was there at the launch and you can read about the experience here:
Solo Pasta; my new favourite Perth restaurant for pasta!
In an effort to please the masses, David and co-owner Meirav have launched ‘The Room’ within the restaurant. ‘The Room’ can be hired out for functions or is a casual dining, bar area to sit and relax in before heading into the main restaurant.
‘The Room’ is gorgeous; an inviting lounge area is positioned near the window that overlooks bustling Beaufort Street. A private bar is available to cater for every thirst and it really brings the VIP experience alive.
Start the evening off with a delicious mojito, white rum, lime juice and mint. So refreshing, it’s the ideal way to chill out and begin a relaxing evening with friends, especially with the warmer weather headed our way.
Entrée is from one of the following: Bruschetta, Lemon Pepper Calamari or Cheese Filled Mushrooms. The cheese filled mushrooms are gorgeously more-ish and certainly whet my appetite for the mains to come. Golden in colour, the crispy coating was crunchy and cooked perfectly to reveal a succulent cheese and mushroom buttery filling. Loved these and would definitely order them again.
I sampled my friend’s calamari (which is the best way to dine, order different dishes so you can try them all) and these too, were bellissimo. Lightly deep-fried, the crispy coating paired with the tender squid, dipped into tangy, garlic sauce, had me eyeing off more than a mouthful.
There are four options for the main course and we were lucky enough to try two of them for the launch of ‘The Room’. The three kinds of pasta Solo Pasta makes on the premises are available with three different sauces chosen by the chef. Don’t be fooled into thinking you’ll still be hungry after devouring this lot. All up, there are three metres of homemade, fresh pasta plated before you and woah, it’s tasty but filling.
I went with Plate 2, which came with beetroot pasta with sardines, garlic, olives and herbs; spinach carbonara pasta and classic pasta with peanut, coconut curry chicken. The standout for me was the classic pasta with chicken. It is like a mild Indian curry with pasta, unique in flavour and super tasty. Tender chicken pieces, lime, coconut curry, coriander, peanut and caramalised chilli, I’d never think to make this myself but it all worked so well.
Plate 1 looked equally appetising and my favourite would have to be the spinach pasta with mussels, squid, octopus and scallops. I love ordering seafood, as I don’t tend to cook it at home so for me, this was a winning dish.
Crunchy cabbage salad and garden salad are provided to share between guests. Refreshing, they’re the ideal accompaniment to the main dishes.
After hearing from foodie cravings herself, rave about the Swiss cheesecake, it was a no brainer for me which dessert to choose. The tiramisu came highly recommended but I’m a sucker for cheesecake and this one was incredible. A generous sized portion with warm chocolate to drizzle over, it was dessert heaven and certainly worthy of high praise.
‘The Room’ at Solo Pasta is fantastic and ideal for a large function where you can sit, chat and dine on fabulous food with 13 of your nearest and dearest. With access to your own private bar, Solo Pasta has thought of everything to make your group booking an easy and relaxed experience.
‘The Room’ offers two function menus for $59 and $69. There is a minimum spend of $1200 on Friday and Saturday’s and $900, Sunday to Thursday. Check out Solo Pasta’s website for more details.
