Every time I think KU DE TA, I think of the succulent slow roasted pork and the funky vibe this upmarket venue brought to the table when I was in Bali for my brother’s wedding last year. High expectations and hopes for KU DE TA’s Perth launch were already set so I am excited to say although not exactly as I had pictured, it’s a stunning venue with a 360 view of the beautiful Swan River featuring both design elements from its sister venue in Bali and unique elements which pay homage to Western Australia.
The launch of this iconic new Perth venue happen to fall on my birthday and date nights are quite rare these days with my babysitting cards used for working at our Crust but how could I pass up the chance to preview this highly anticipated opening of KU DE TA Perth? The decision was made as soon as I received an invitation by snail mail - exciting seeing as these days all we find in the letter box are bills!
All glammed up burger boy and I walked arm in arm on the black carpet into this new WA food destination as I admired the beautiful view of the Swan River on the walk in and inside behind the glass walls as I sipped my virgin pina colada (I’m 20 weeks pregnant)…
Often with stunning venues I find the food misses the mark but chef duo Dan Fisher and Liam Atkinson certainly made an impression on opening night. The fresh local seafood was our highlight, quote burger boy “these are the freshest oysters I’ve ever had”. I felt sorry for these two who spent the rest of the evening avoiding burger boy after he stopped them for 10 minutes as he indulged in the “best oysters he’s ever had”…
The cocktails, pizzas (made with the same type of oven used by Brooklyn pizzeria, Roberta’s!), charcuterie, warm cookies and banana splits are all must haves at this new WA destination venue. And for those of you who love Bintang, KU DE TA have it on tap!!
If I wasn’t already married, I’d have my wedding reception at KU DE TA Perth. When planning my wedding 7 years ago I wanted a waterfront venue that was able to hold 300 people (I’m Chinese and married an Italian) – this was virtually impossible at the time without travelling down south. Perhaps when we renew our vows in X years time?
For now we’ll definitely be coming back to enjoy the venue to enjoy its three spaces (in order of preference) –
