Every year as a small business owner I learn something new, this year has been whirlwind to say the least! Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar has just launched a new vegan biocheese option for our Perth vegan customers and although we occasionally veganise our vegetarian pizzas for our customers by taking off the dairy cheese – to me, pizza just isn’t pizza without cheese. burger boy and I have spent the last three weeks, getting the flavours right and training our Crust Mount Lawley team to make vegan pizzas the same way as our gluten free pizzas by changing gloves / pizza cutters and being careful not to mix vegan ingredients with our other ingredients.
The Perth vegan community has been so supportive…
We are also now cooking all our chicken in-house in addition to our lamb which we started sourcing from our local Meat the Butcher earlier this year. Taste-wise the house cooked chicken is absolutely worth the extra time. Look at burger boy go 🙂
So with the exciting launch of Perth vegan pizzas, biocheese and house cooked chicken to our small business pizza menu, late last month we extended our astro turf for the night and turned our laneway into a pizza haven. It was so lovely to mingle with the Perth foodie community, Crust Mount Lawley customers and foodie cravings readers.
Of course a pizza party is not a party without a few cheeky bevies - here’s some of our favourite pairings…
We served up a light and golden Phoenix Beer, the malty and sweet notes paired perfectly with our NEW house cooked Habanero & Mango Chutney Chicken and Lemon Gremolata Chicken crust pizzas.
Whilst 2 Brothers Brewery’s crisp Little Apple and Gypsy Pear Cider matched perfectly with our old classic crowd-favourite, the Upper Crust Pulled Pork and Slaw pizza…
See you at the next pizza party! I won’t say much for now other than we are turning 5 next year.
