Anna Gare’s Delicious Frocks rocks

I remember Anna Gare when she was a member of the successful all-girl pop group the Jam Tarts. Only 12 when they formed, travelling and performing around the globe with the band for years provided Anna with the confidence to embark on the next chapter of her life. The diminutive, dimpled, singer transformed herself into a celebrity cook, hosting television shows such as Junior Masterchef and The Great Australian Bakeoff.  Since then Anna has branched out and designed her own kitchen range and also published three cookbooks, the latest is titled “Delicious Every Day”.

Always looking forward, she wondered, “What’s next?” With a love of fashion and everything food related, Anna decided to combine both passions after meeting and collaborating with Milan designer, Michela Borlotti.

Projecting images of food onto fabrics was discussed and the clothing line, “Delicious Frocks” was born! Her quirky range of dresses and tops in satin and chiffon all include a recipe on the tag.

Anna says of the stunning fabrics, “If I’m going to go up in a kitchen, I’m going to go up in style and I want to go up in a fabulous Delicious Frock. I can guarantee that all the frocks we have here are highly flammable. You’ll go out with a bang!” The dress Anna wears has chillies around the neckline.

Of course Anna is most famous for her food. At the launch of her collection she tells us she has been in the kitchen all day and we are not disappointed as the waitresses, all dressed in items from the Delicious Frocks range, serve tamarillo duck crepes, which are delicious.

These are closely followed by mixed leaves with salmon and capers.

The chilli fish has just enough zing to make you reach for more.

The warm green pea soup seemed to be a big hit.

But my favourite canape of the night was the chilli jam lamb. Extremely tasty with just enough spice.

To add to the luxuriousness of our surroundings at Elle, all the food was washed down with a glass, or several, of Moet & Chandon champagne.

If you love your food so much you want to wear it but without going as far as Lady Gaga and the meat dress, then Anna Gare’s Delicious Frocks collection is available from Elle at 56 Weld Street Nedlands, as well as Finch in Margaret River and Texture in Denmark.
