Meeting long-time reader and owner of Banksia Gardens Albany

0

Last month, I was invited by a long-time reader of foodie cravings, Ailan Tran (@primedelight on instagram), to stay at her new accommodation business in Albany and to eat through Taste Great Southern with her. I had no idea how I was going to get to Albany as after our 5 weeks in Europe last year, burger boy wasn’t keen on travelling with a toddler again. After a bit of brainstorming and research on transport options, I decided to take my mum and brother with me - we haven’t been on a holiday together since we were teens, let alone a road trip with our very active junior burger 🙂

It was a three-day whirlwind family getaway but was absolutely worth the drive, especially when this beautiful view of Albany is just a 5 minutes from our apartments…

Amazing Albany

It was so nice to finally meet Ailan and hear the story of how she went from living in Perth in a high flying corporate role to moving to Albany to run Quality Suites Banksia Gardens Albany with her husband Martin…

“Martin and I have always wanted to own a business. We searched then entire country for a location - literally travelling from Far North Queensland, down through country NSW and Victoria and back to WA- before choosing Albany. Not only is it beautiful, but the food, wine and activities offer a unique experience to visitors. Martin has over 20 years experience in large hotels, so armed with all that travel/tourism/accommodation expertise he decided it was time to own one!

I’ve always loved travelling though - from remote exploration in the northwest; to slums in Bangladesh; African villages in tropical Ghana to resorts in the Maldives. Albany is such an underrated location. I love being able to explore the region and then inform people about all the great things they can see/do/eat/explore via social media. I’m slowly writing articles about the food producers here and uploading onto our website.”

Quality Suites Banksia Gardens Albany is located in the heart of Albany’s town centre. We stayed in a 3-bedroom 2-bathroom apartment for the three days we were in amazing Albany and I loved having a kitchen and laundry at my disposal. There was a shared BBQ area with bench seating and a playground which was a lot easier than finding a park for junior burger to run amuk whilst we were in Albany…

The best part about staying at Quality Suites Banksia Gardens Albany was that it was a quick 5-minute drive from everywhere we needed to be for Taste Great Southern and it wins brownie points for having all the facilities I needed to keep junior burger fed and clean.

Quality Suites Banksia Gardens Albany Serviced Apartments

It’s good value for money, clean and what I’d expect for a 4-star apartment. I will have to say Quality Suites Banksia Gardens Albany is not the newest, trendiest apartment in Albany but for those looking for a family getaway and just looking for accommodation in Albany to “sleep” in between outings then this is the way to go.
