Since opening a food business, I’ve been doing all the home cooking. burger boy used to cook us seafood and heaps of BBQs which I miss as it’s different to my usual dishes.
The other night, we had our BBQ dinner sponsored by Barbeques Galore which I was quite excited about as this meant burger boy had to cook as I don’t know how to work the BBQ 🙂
What I love about BBQ dinners is that it’s quick - we were all fed & cleaned up within a hour. burger boy cooked up Bratwursts from Elmar’s Small Goods in Mt Lawley and Garlic Porterhouse Steaks from our local IGA…
I don’t normally wander down the Highgate end of Mt Lawley by feet but I felt like something other than the usual sausages. It was $10.40 for four of these Bratwursts from Elmar’s Small Goods and they were so tasty, we didn’t even bother adding onion or cheese to our rolls 🙂 I would have bought more sausages whilst I was there if it wasn’t cash only.
I think burger boy may need some practice with cooking steaks though 🙂 If you have any tips for cooking steak on a BBQ please let us know! We used Barbeque Galore’s Quick Garlic Steak Recipe but burger boy overcooked them as they were a bit hard (literally) to eat.
All I had to make was a quick salad and dinner was set!
Hoping our weeknight BBQ dinner breaks burger boy’s cooking slump! Thinking with junior burger due in mid-August, burger boy might need to start cooking more as I find that my cooking isn’t very good with little sleep. Plus, I always seem to burn myself and make a mess of the kitchen when I’m tired!
