Afternoon tea in the Swan Valley at Mondo Nougat & House of Honey

Since making the move from my 9 - 5 corporate job to doing what I love everyday, my weeks have been fairly flexible. Some days I work 12 hours, others I’ll spend time catching up with my dear family and friends. Wednesdays burger boy and I spend with his parents who live in The Vines. Besides being spoilt with an amazing home cooked Italian meal, I’ve been exploring the Swan Valley with my mother-in-law while burger boy plays golf with his dad.

Last week after a two-course lunch, we headed to Mondo Nougat for coffee and this amazing fig tart…

I’ve also got a major soft spot for anything with salted caramel so I had to have this macaron too…

It was just perfect, the macaron’s shell was chewy and the salted caramel was sweet without being overpowering.

I felt like a tourist even though I’ve lived in Perth all my life 🙂 We then wandered over to Morish Nuts next door for more tastings and bought home this popcorn crunch…

Afternoon tea didn’t end there, my mother-in-law was keen to show me through the House of Honey

I love that House of Honey is located on Bee Keeper Drive…

After a few honey tastings, I convinced myself that I had room to fit the strawberry and cream ice cream which had honey drizzled through…

The ice cream was thick and creamy. The honey like Mondo Nougat’s salted caramel macaron wasn’t overpowering, it complemented the strawberry and cream really well.

Whilst we were enjoying our ice cream cups I got dessert envy of all the cakes and scones. Looks like we might be heading back to House of Honey this week!

It’s so exciting that there’s so much to eat and see in the Swan Valley – I’ll be making more of an effort to exploring more of the valley from now on. Being a Perth local, it seems I only ever visit cool places like Mondo Nougat, Morish Nuts and House of Honey when I’m down south on holidays. That’s going to change!
