Mary Street Bakery – not just a bakery

burger boy and I went for afternoon tea at the much talked about Mary Street Bakery a couple of weekends ago.

We’re usually in Mount Lawley by night and couldn’t hold out any longer. So we made a special trip into Mount Lawley on a Sunday afternoon to see what the hype was all about.

That Sunday afternoon, latte in hand and a red velvet cupcake to share, we watched the world go by…

The latte was creamy smooth and had enough kick in it to keep us going through the night.

The red velvet cupcake was moist and soft. The icing stayed together, had a creamy texture and was deliciously sweet.

Mary Street Bakery isn’t your traditional “bakery”, it’s really a hip café with table service and bake goods.

Of course, I had to buy a token baked item to take home 🙂 This $4 Turkish bread smelled so good, it was hard not taking a bite out of it on the way back to the car and even harder to resist in the car with the windows up!

The Turkish bread was the perfect addition to our Sunday breakfast – I toasted our focaccia and served it with pork chipolatas, eggs and tomato chutney.

Mary Street Bakery lived up to the hype and is a lovely addition to the Beaufort Street strip.
