Got greedy trying out Crust’s new pizza menu…

16/10/11 post update - we fell in love with Crust so much that we’re opening our own in Mount Lawley next month - more details on my blog post burger boy and I are bringing Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar to Mount Lawley and on our Crust Mount Lawley facebook page.

burger boy & I have been meaning to try Crust’s new menu for awhile now. We normally have pizza on Friday nights as it’s easy and a good treat after a long week’s work but March has been a busy month and we hadn’t had a Friday night @ home in ages!

We had checked out all the new pizzas on Crust’s website (view the menu) and had our stomachs set on trying the Five Spice Pork Belly and one of the Wagyu pizzas. When we got to Crust though, we got greedy and ended up ordering more than we had planned:

half Five Spice Pork Belly and half Wagyu Prawn Upper Crust Pizza $24

The Five Spice Pork Belly was our favourite topping! The sweet taste of the pear worked really well paired with the pork belly and the balsamic glaze on the rocket topped it off nicely.

The Wagyu Prawn pizza had a tender Wagyu Beef, asparagus (I thought these tasted like Bok Choy), red capsicum, shallots, tiger prawns with a hollandaise sauce drizzled on top. This pizza was delicious - love the combo!

half Cajun Chicken, half Gourmet Cheese Large Pizza, $21

I don’t eat chilli so I only had a bite of the Cajun Chicken which had Cajun flavoured chicken breast fillets, Spanish onions, green capsicum, jalapenos and peri peri sauce on a spicy tomato salsa base. burger boy thought this pizza had a good quantity of toppings - nothing beats good quality portions!

The Gourmet Cheese was indeed very cheesy - it was a combo of feta, brie, gorgonzola and buffalo mozzarella on a béchamel sauce base. I do love cheese but I thought this pizza was just a bit too salty for my liking.

We were pretty full after attempting to eat the upper crust and large pizza between us but I’ve always wanted to try the dessert at Crust so we took home a strawberry sorbet $5. For the cost of a single serve at an ice-creamery/gelato we had a 200ml tub enough to satisfy both our dessert cravings and it tasted just as good!

And burger boy took the left over pizzas with him to work today

Overall a lovely Friday feast!

Since this review, burger boy and I have been back to Crust quite regularly and the Sausage Duo has climbed to the top of my list with the Peppercorn Wagyu a close runner up!
