Gino’s Spaghetti Bar – love the chilli mussels!

Gino’s Spaghetti Bar is one of our favourite local restaurants to dine-in or take-away when we haven’t had time to cook or just feel like going somewhere casual. burger boy wasn’t feeling too flash tonight so we cancelled our plans and went to Gino’s for a quick bite to eat.

burger boy wasn’t going to let me enjoy a corona on my own so he had one too…

I had a late lunch and was still feeling pretty content with my pad thai so it was the perfect opportunity to have chilli mussels (side note – I only ever have seafood out when I’m not starving ;) as it doesn’t fill me up).

The mussels were juicy, sweet and best of all nice & plump. The chilli tomato sauce was mild & flavoursome, it wasn’t chunky but wasn’t too thin in texture either. Gino’s was very generous with their portion, check out my massive bowl…

I always have a side of carbs as a filler with seafood, tonight’s was Gino’s garlic bread which tasted great dipped in the chilli mussel sauce, but I reckon it’s a bit plain to have on it’s own.

burger boy had the scallopini marsala on a bed of fettuccine. He cleared his plate in no time, not even sauce was left…

burger boy struggled to help me out with my massive bowl of chilli mussels but he did his best and we almost got through the last layer ;)

It cost us just under $70 and we left satisfied as always. Gino’s Spaghetti Bar is a great casual local Italian restaurant, wine is BYO and I love that we can have a good homely meal in less than 30 – 45 minutes. Service by the lovely @a_monella was friendly, fast and ace as always.
